Whenever I crave good kbbq(wait whaaaa. yes kbbq), my mom and I go over to Yakiniku Seoul. The name is a little misleading because this place has both Japanese and Korean in the name. "Yakiniku" is japanese for 'grilled meat' while "Seoul" is, as most people know, the capital of South Korea. So basically, this place is kbbq, just not as modern as other places like Gen.
My mom and I have been coming here for yearssss, like since I was in elementary school long. And of course we've tried out other places that are open later, but both agree that Yakiniku Seoul is the best. They have the best brisket, banchan, jjigae, and rice! The brisket is cut just the right thickness, not too thick and not too thin. And they use a special type of rice. Look at the walls because they actually have adverts for their rice! That's how special it is haha.
The food itself is a 5/5, but even if it was a 4/5 the service would keep us coming back. The sajangnim (owner) always takes care of her customers, and you can tell she knows the importance of making guests feel welcome. She goes up to tables individually and talks story, and she has a connection with everyone! The waitresses are nice as well.
Seriously though, you can never go wrong with Yakiniku Seoul. -

My mom and I like the bibimbap w/ raw beef. The meat is soft and a little sweet. The bibimbap includes a raw egg yolk, bean sprouts, carrot, zucchini, mushrooms, and seaweed. It comes with a bottle of gochujang sauce and a bowl of seaweed soup. It's filling but refreshing.
I also like the meat jun and potato side dish (my mom doesn't care for these two things at any Korean restaurant). I don't like super thin meat jun. The meat jun here is tender, flavorful, not dry, and not too thin but not too thick. The potato side dish is served warm. The skin is nice and chewy. The sauce gives it a dessert-like sweetness. It's addictive! I always ask for more potato. -

This restaurant has been around for decades and is known for its kalbi and other meat items. It can accommodate groups of 10 or more, but be sure to make reservations.
The current owners have had this restaurant for over 20 years and ensure that the wait staff are friendly and courteous. Although there are a lot of Korean-speaking patrons, it is also frequented by locals and Mainland visitors.
The meals come with a generous array of side dishes (panchan), and they have white or brown rice options. Depending on the size of your Yakiniku order, jigae (stew) may come with it.
The quality of meat and atmosphere is comparable to what you might find in LA, and the restaurant is clean. This is our "go to" place for yang kalbi when we are in Honolulu.
Ample parking is in the rear of the building. -

Yakiniku Seoul is probably my favorite Korean restaurant on the island. I've been coming here with my family for years. There is plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant and the service is always awesome.
But the best part is that the food is always delicious and authentic! Everything from the banchan to the rice is quality! My favorite things to order for yakiniku are the marinated kalbi and brisket. I also love the stone bowl bibimbap, meatjun, and the Korean miso stew. I could go on about the food for days!
If you're in need of an authentic Korean fix, I highly recommend Yakiniku Seoul! You won't be disappointed!
